On June 21st, Temple City High School had its 59th senior graduation ceremony, which took place on the Temple City High School football field with over a thousand attendants, including graduating seniors, the orchestra, and their family members.

Present at the ceremony were alumni, staff, the principal, assistant principals, and the district superintendent. The valedictorian of this year’s class is Yinting Huang while the salutatorians for this year are Eric Lin and Florence Liu.

The event started off with speeches from the valedictorian, salutatorians, and the Senior Class President and Associated Student Body President, Max Ozer and Vivian Ka respectively. For many of the seniors, the event was bittersweet.

“I’ll miss the high school itself since it was like a second home to me,” said Senior Florence Liu, “I’ll miss all of my friends that I’ve made throughout the years, and of course I’ll miss the high school life.”

“I’ll miss my teachers and my friends,” said Senior Henry Yu, “The thing I’ll miss the most is the school itself because having been there for four years, I realized how much I’ve grown as a person.”

Precursors to this event were the senior reflections, the senior picnic, and the senior awards breakfast, where seniors reflected about the experiences that they had in high school and received awards pertaining to their graduation.

The senior picnic was an opportunity to socialize in a picnic environment with fellow friends before departing to their respective universities and colleges.

Also at the ceremony were performances by the high school orchestra and the Brighter Side singers.

Following the graduation ceremony was the long awaited senior Grad Nite. This year’s theme was “Once Upon a Time,” focusing on elements of mystical stories and childhood memories.

A team of volunteers ran the event with food, water, snacks and desserts from donations by parents and sponsors.

The Grad Nite party was located on school grounds. There were carnival like games and a wide assortment of other activities.

The line up of entertainment also included inflatable games, video arcade games, ping-pong, game booths, live DJs, and photographers.
