A replacement has been named to fill a vacancy created because of an unexpected midterm vacancy on the Public Safety commission.
The city council unanimously appointed Serge Haddad during a special city council meeting on September 11. Councilmember Fernando Vizcarra was absent.
Mr. Haddad will take former Public Safety Commissioner Brian Baudendistel’s seat. Mr. Baudendistel resigned unexpectedly earlier this summer.
According to city officials, seven applicants applied for the position.
An ad hoc committee composed of Councilmembers Carl Blum and Tom Chavez reviewed the applications and narrowed down the choices to three candidates.
All three were interviewed by the city council on September 11.
Mr. Haddad joins Public Safety commissioners Ousama Nimri, Jim Clift, Danny Redmond, and Nicholas Stratis,
The Public Safety commission meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month.
Besides the Public Safety commission, the city of Temple City currently has three active city commissions, including the Parks and Recreation and Planning commissions.
Five Temple City residents serve on each commission. City commissioners are appointed by the city council to a two-year term. Commissioners are volunteers and do not receive any compensation for their time.
