On June 15, seniors from Temple City High School graduated after four years filled with excitement and exhilaration.
The day was filled with excitement and enjoyment, as parents, children, and students witnessed the graduation of the class of 2012 from Temple City. Students marched in to the tune of Pomp and Circumstance from the Temple City High Orchestra and Band Ensemble.
Four people, Dana Tran, Maggie Liu, Nicole Feng, and Robert Xue gave speeches to the graduating class. Each had some interesting words of wisdom to impart, whether it was the true meaning of the acronym “YOLO” or the meaning of life for all people.
With the commencement finished by ASB Vice-President Michelle Cao, hats flew up in a flourish. Fellow students, family, and bystanders poured onto the football field to either take pictures, greet the students, or give graduation gifts.
Grad Nite began only a few hours after graduation and lasted until 5 o’clock. Students were able to enjoy casino games, a tattoo parlor with henna tattoos, large screen cartoons, drinks, food and deserts, and a wax hand replica.
In addition, there were tickets for students to add to a raffle for prizes. There were several arcade games along with other games that provided tickets.
To end the event, students were treated to a hypnotist show and found out who won prizes, which included cameras, a GPS, and a netbook.
For most students, graduation and Grad Nite was a wonderful moment to enjoy the nostalgic, sad yet liberating feeling of leaving the school that they had called their home.
