The city council voted to appoint two new faces to the Planning commission, while reappointing four others to their respective commissions.
John Cordes and Albert Leung were confirmed to the Planning commission during the July 5, 2011 city council meeting. The city council also confirmed the appointments of Patrick Horton (Planning), as well as Dan Arrighi, Nanette Fish, and Andrea Olivas (Parks and Recreation).
All will serve two-year terms, which expire in June 2013.
Only Mr. Leung was sworn into office by City Clerk Mary Flandrick.
Mr. Cordes had a previous engagement and could not attend the city council meeting, Mayor Tom Chavez said. The City Clerk will likely swear Mr. Cordes in at a later date.
Messrs. Cordes and Leung join Commissioners Patrick Horton, Jerry Seibert, and Tom O’Leary.
Earlier during the meeting, Mayor Chavez recognized Ed Chen and Manuel “Manny” Valenzuela III for their service on the Planning commission.
“I want to take this opportunity to thank both of you for your contribution and dedication to making Temple City a better place to live,” he said. “Your continued efforts in the Planning commissioner were exemplary.”
Both Messrs. Chen and Valenzuela declined to serve another term.
Mr. Chen, a former Temple City School Board Member, thanked the mayor and city council for the opportunity.
It’s been a great two years. It’s been an honor to serve,” Mr. Chen said.
