Vanir Construction Management completes necessary paperwork for Project to proceed.

The firm overseeing the Rosemead Boulevard Improvement Project has completed the paperwork for the Project to proceed, the city manager on Thursday said.
“Vanir Construction Management, Inc., on behalf of the City, has completed the Request for Qualification/Request for Proposal for the selection of the Architectural/Engineering firm for this important community project,” City Manager Pulido wrote in his September 30, 2010 weekly report.
According to the city manager’s timeline, the City plans to open its search beginning October 16. The City plans to advertise in two local papers, place a listing on the City’s website, as well as notify well-known architectural and engineering firms.
Those interested will have until October 27 to submit a proposal. Interviews with select candidates will be conducted in November, and a decision will be reached shortly thereafter.
Vanir Construction Management was selected on August 17 to be the project manager for the Rosemead Boulevard Improvement Project. The firm will evaluate, re-design, and bid for the actual construction of the Project, city officials previously have stated.
Councilman Carl Blum has said that construction on the Project is targeted for early next year, as the County of Los Angeles is improving their section of Rosemead Boulevard.
The Project was conceived after the City acquired Rosemead Boulevard from the state of California in 2008.
The City plans to introduce various improvements, such as energy efficient lighting, pedestrian-friendly enhancements, and drought landscaping to Rosemead Boulevard as part of the Project.
An earlier engineering report indicated that the Project would cost the City $7 million dollars. Fortunately, the City has received up to $6.3 million in grants, with another $3 million already allocated from general reserves.
Councilman Vincent Yu, along with Councilman Blum, sits on the Rosemead Boulevard ad hoc committee.
