Councilwoman Cynthia Sternquist on Tuesday presented a third set of books and media to the Temple City public library.
The 50 books were donated by Temple City residents as a part of the “50 Books for 50 Years” campaign, which was launched in January.
To date, 200 books and media items have been collected.
Susan Schlager, the head library, accepted the books during the August 3, 2010 city council meeting.
The campaign to raise books and DVDs for the library on Golden West Avenue was launched earlier this year. The effort, initiated by Councilwoman Sternquist, has been supported by the City Council.
Despite surpassing the first goal of 50 books, the City and Councilwoman Sternquist hope the public will continue to donate throughout the year. There is now a second goal of reaching 500 books by December 31.
A wish list of books and DVDs are available at the library.
A plaque with the donor’s name will be placed within the covers of each book.
