Two weeks after picking a slogan for the upcoming anniversary celebration, city leaders on Tuesday officially settled on a logo.
Fourteen designs, all submitted by Wonder Studio, were considered at the Dec. 15, 2009 city council meeting. The Parks and Recreation had earlier asked the consultant to present altered designs for the City Council to decide.
“The logo will be used on fliers [and] banners,” Cathy Burroughs, parks and recreation director, said in response to a question by Mayor Pro Tempore Vincent Yu.
In addition, the logo might be used on city letterhead, shirts, bags, key chains, and other commemorative items, Parks and Recreation commissioner Dan Arrighi added.
After hearing from the public, the City Council narrowed down their choices. They then unanimously selected logo number five, albeit with some small modifications.
Once the consultant redesigns the logo, the city intends to promote it along with the slogan, “Celebrating 50 Years as a Community.”
When Temple City turns 50 next May, the City plans to hold several anniversary-related events. City staff has tentatively scheduled two days to celebrate, May 21 and 22.
Temple City also intends to hold a year-long celebration.
The city was officially incorporated in 1960.
