The filing period for the position of City Councilmember has begun in Temple City according to City officials.
Four individuals have pulled papers, including the two incumbents up for re-election. City Clerk of Temple City Mary Flandrick has already confirmed that Councilman Ken Gillanders is qualified as a candidate.
In March 2009, Temple City voters will cast ballots for individuals they want to see serve in local government. There are two seats open on the City Council. Both Gillanders and Mayor Cathé Wilson have expressed interest in seeking another term.
Individuals who have pulled papers include Parks and Recreation Commissioner Tom Chavez, Mayor Wilson, Councilman Gillanders, and Samuel Tyre.
The filing period opened on November 10 and the deadline to file is December 8, 2008.
